Question| # | Question |
| 1. | How can I conduct my auction on MyFantasyLeague.com? Answer: MyFantasyLeague.com offers two ways for your league to hold its preseason auction
1. Online MyFantasyLeague.com-hosted email auction (taking days or weeks to complete).
2. Offline auction.
1. Online MyFantasyLeague.com auction. This scenario involves using the MFL league site to directly hold your auction and is designed for auctions taking days or weeks to complete.
Pros:
Owners can be geographically dispersed
Offers a quick, interactive way to hold your auction
Reduced risk of error
No need to manually record the winning bids twice
Supports all MFL positions, varied auction funds (per franchise), and proxy bids
Cons:
Requires all (most) owners have access to the Internet
Not as efficient/intuitive for a quick auction taking hours to complete
2. Offline auction
. In this low-tech approach where all members are together for the auction, one person simply records all the winning bids and the corresponding amounts. At the completion of the auction, the commissioner must use the For Commissioners > Setup > Load/Unload Rosters
screen to manually enter in each team's wining bids and (optionally) the For Commissioners > Setup > Enter Player Salaries/Contracts
screen to specify the corresponding bid amounts.
Pros:
Draft can be held anywhere (no PC required)
No prep work necessary
Cons:
Most manual labor required (double entry of winning bids)
Greatest risk of error
Requires all owners to meet at one location

Detailed Steps for an Offline Auction
(Before the auction)
| 1. | This is the simplest type of auction to prepare for as it really only requires something to record the picks with and some form of auction timer. This is typically designed for auctions taking a few hours to complete. |
(During the auction)
| 2. | Have owners on a rotating basis select a player to be auctioned. Complete one auction before moving on to the next. |
(After the auction)
| 3. | Go to the For Commissioners > Setup > General League Setup screen to define the parameter "At the start of the season, rosters are determined by" to use the setting "None of the above - commissioner will use the Load Rosters option to load franchise rosters." |
| 4. | Use the For Commissioners > Players And Rosters > Load/Unload Rosters screen to populate each franchise's roster |
| 5. | (Optionally) If your league carries over the winning auction bid amounts to be used as a player's initial salary for use in a salary cap league, enable the General League Setup option to "Track Player Salaries and/or Contracts" and then use the For Commissioners > Salary Cap Setup > Enter Player Salaries/Contract screen to define the starting salary for each auctioned player. |
